Update: Jaime José Correa

We have good news to report. Jaime José Correa was released from detention Tuesday morning and is safe. There are several conflicting stories about the justification for his arrest and folks here in Barranquilla are investigating the situation. We will give you more information when we have it. Thank you for your concerns and your prayers.

Peace,
Christine & Rachel, accompaniers

oh, and did you know that terry reynolds wrote this week's "clerk's letter" about you? so exciting!! in case you don't get the emails, i'll cut and paste it here:

Dear Family of Friends,
Do you recognize this quote attributed to Wangari Maathai?
When the forest where the hummingbird lived went up in flames, the other
animals ran out to save themselves. But the hummingbird stayed, flying to and
from a nearby river with drops of water in its beak to pour on the fire. From
a distance, the other animals laughed and mocked it. ?What do you think you
are doing?? they shouted. ?This fire is overwhelming. You can?t do
anything.? Finally, the hummingbird turned to them and said, ?I?m doing what I
can.?
If you do not recognize this, I think you?re missing something very
wonderful! These words appear at the beginning of Rachel Ernst?s online journal
(_http://www.what-i-can.blogspot.com_ (http://www.what-i-can.blogspot.com/) ).
Rachel, an attender at our meeting for several years, is currently in Colombia
serving as a human rights accompanier. Her schedule offers her the time to
take photographs and record her daily activities and thoughts, so she takes
advantage of that, and is posting them for all to see. If you haven?t logged
on to her site, I encourage you to do so. Getting to know Colombia through
the eyes and heart of this young Friend has been a great experience for me, and
I can only imagine it will be for you too. If you do find it meaningful, I
also encourage you to click on Rachel?s e-mail link and send her a few words.
She?s working with Presbyterians, and she misses her Friends!
Our meeting is so blessed with young adult members and attenders, who listen
closely to the guidance of the Spirit and courageously follow their
leadings. Rachel is just one of them. I know pride is recorded as a sin, but I
can't help feeling very good about our young people. They inspire me in many
ways, and I am so grateful to know them.
Friends, we have an opportunity to do what we can at this month?s meeting
for business. The agenda follows.
Love,
Terry
